2015 World Deaf Basketball Championships draw held

On Wednesday, the draw was held for the 2015 World Deaf Basketball Championships scheduled to get underway on July 4 in Taoyuan, Taiwan.



The women’s competition has two groups. Drawn in Group A were Chinese Taipei, Sweden, Israel, Greece, Lithuania, and Turkey. Drawn in Group B were the United States, Ukraine, Italy, Russia, and Japan.


On the men’s side, the competition has four groups. Group A includes Russia, Japan, Ukraine, and Mexico. Group B includes Argentina, Chinese Taipei, Slovenia, and Lithuania. Group C includes the United States, Greece, Australia, and the winner of the Poland versus Great Britain qualifier. Group D includes South Korea, Israel, Turkey, and Venezuela.


The first World Deaf Basketball Championships were played in 2002 in Athens, Greece, with 12 men’s teams and 4 women’s teams participating. The second were held in Guangzhou, China in 2007 with 16 men’s teams and 9 women’s teams. The third edition were held in 2011 in Palermo, Italy with 16 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams.
