Anna Fenninger named Special Olympics World Winter Pre-Games oathspeaker

Last Thursday, Anna Fenninger was named Special Olympics World Winter Pre-Games oathspeaker for the ceremony at the WM-Stadion on Sunday. Olympic alpine skier Fenninger is the Austrian Sportswoman of the Year, having won gold in Sochi and followed it up with a pair World Championship golds in 2015.


The Special Olympics Pre-Games Austria 2016 officially get underway on next Monday in Graz, Schladming and Ramsau. Over 1,000 Special Olympians from 22 countries will be participating in the event in sports that include figure skating, speed skating, alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and Bavarian curling.

This event is a lead up to the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games Austria 2017, scheduled to take place in March of that year.  Nine sports are the program for the eight-day event.  3,000 athletes from 110 different countries are expected to participate.
