Argentina women’s deaf volleyball team wins tournament in Bahía Blanca

This past weekend, Argentina women’s deaf volleyball team won a tournament in Bahía Blanca, a city in the southwest part of Buenos Aires.   The competition was organized by the Universidad Nacional del Sur.  The team was captained by Alejandra Elizagoyen.


The roster for the tournament included Marlene Abot Blatter, Macarena Llanos, Paloma Druetta, Angeles Liboa, Micaela Braun, Candela Escobar, Romina Carmody, Marisel Malecki, Marina Rodriguez, Rocio Rodríguez, Alejandra Elizagoyen, Belen Cuburu, Carolina Daiman and Paula Diloreto.

The competition was part of preparations for the 2016 Pan American Deaf Volleyball Regional Qualifiers scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 4, 2016 in Washington, D.C. at the Gallaudet University Field House.  This is an important tournament, because it serves as a qualifying event for next year’s Deaflympic Games in Samsun, Turkey.  The women’s competition at Gallaudet University includes four teams, the United States, Brazil, Canada and Argentina.
