Austria wins 5 medals at 2016 IPC WDS Kazakhstan Open

The 2016 IPC WDS Kazakhstan Open wrapped up last night in Asana, with Austria finishing with an impressive 5 total medals, 3 silver and 2 bronzes.


Vienna Rolli-Dancedream’s Werner Kaiser and Brigitte Kröll finished second in the Duo Lwd 1 + 2 Latin event behind a Russian pair. WheelChairDancers Salzburg’s Sanja Vukasionvic won silver in the Single Women Lwd 1 + 2 Freestyle event.

On the opening day of competition, Sanja Vukasinovic won bronze in the women’s single event. Austrian teammate Brigitte Kröll finished seventh in the same event in a field fifteen deep. Robert Pleininger finished with bronze in the men’s singe competition in a 14 deep field.   Brigitte Kröll and Werner Kaiser won silver in the standard duo event in a competition featuring 12 pairs, only missing out on gold to the Russians.

The competition officially opened the start of the 2016 wheelchair dance season.
