Last Friday, Azercell Telecom organized a reception at their headquarters in Baku for Paralympians following Azerbaijan hosted European Games in June. The reception was attended by Paralympic judoka European Games medalists Ilham Zakiyev, Sabina Abdullayeva and Zakir Muslumov.
Azercell Telecom President Vahid Mursaliyev also attended the reception, and talked about the company’s support of the Children’s Paralympics Committee that directly enabled 50 teenagers to participate and regularly compete in disability sport. He talked about a renewed commitment to this program to develop future athletes who can represent their country at the highest level.
Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population and President of National Paralympics Committee Ilham Rahimov spoke at the reception about the Games having an important and lasting legacy in the country. He cited one legacy as all the country’s major sporting facilities now being disability accessible, and interest by high level leaders in the country in hosting elite international Paralympic sporting events.
