Yesterday in Prague, Czech Republic, the opening match of 5-a-side football’s IBSA Euro Challenge Cup kicked off with Belgium beating Moldova 2 – 1. Romania and Hungary tied 2 – 2 in the competition’s second game. The Czech Republic beat Belgium 1 – 0 in the third match of the competition.
Belgian striker Kevin Vanderborght scored both goals for his team, while Vasili Cripolapov scored his team’s lone goal. It was the first time both teams had played each other. The Belgian team is nicknamed the The Red Blind Devils.
Teams traded the lead in the Romania versus Hungary game, with Hungarian Szabolcs Forgács putting his team ahead 1 – 0. Romanian Tiberiu Paun scored a goal to tie the game at 1 – 1, before scoring a second goal to put his team ahead 1 – 2. Forgács answered back to end the game at 2 – 2.
Early in the Czech Republic versus Belgium game, Jan Mrázek score his team’s lone goal. While the Belgian side had possession for most of the game, they were unable to capitalize on it by scoring a goal.
