Boccia Australia has been very busy lately, with their latest announcement occurring earlier today when they unveiled their new logo on their Facebook page. All the early feedback on Facebook has been very positive regarding the change, with one commenter noting that a new logo fits with the new era.

Earlier in the week, the organization announced a partnership with revolutioniseSPORT to improve their software situation in ways that would benefit the organization and volunteers running events on the ground.  This month, they have also taken steps to create a national ranking system.  They also did a major website overhaul of their website.

This week, the sport got another boost with local coverage of players in the South-West News, a Queensland newspaper.  The organization has also been encouraging players to cross the Tasman and compete in the upcoming New Zealand national boccia championships.    In early July, the organization also announced next year’s national competition schedule to enable players to better plan.

The sport was recently was added to the high performance program at the Australia Paralympic Committee, who are targeting it as a sport where they are trying to get people qualified for Rio, and to have medal contenders by 2020.  The program met their non-medal target expectation at last year’s Asia and Oceania Championships.  The Australian Institute of Sport considers the sport to be on track for the targets set for it, in contrast to goalball and powerlifting.
