Bosnia & Herzegovina wins opener at men’s European Wheelchair Basketball C Division Championships

The European Wheelchair Basketball C Division Championships got underway last night in Lisbon, with Bosnia & Herzegovina’s men winning the opener against hosts Portugal by 58 – 34.
E. Modronja led his Bosnia & Herzegovina side in scoring with 16 points, grabbing a double double with 14 rebounds. Three players on the Bosnia & Herzegovina put up ten points each, including E. Puric, R. Rekanović and M. Cejvan. E. Imsirevic was second on his side in rebounding, pulling down 9 while putting up 6 points.
On the host side, N. Neves was the only Portuguese player in double digits. He scored 10. H. Lourenço led his side in rebounding with 7 while scoring 2 points.
Play continues today, with leadership from IWBF Europe attending. Some of the matches include Ireland playing Greece at 13:30 local time, and Ireland plays Bosnia & Herzegovina at 18:00 local time. The tournament is an important one, because the winners will compete in the next edition of the European Wheelchair Basketball B Division Championships.
