In a two-deep field on the opening day of competition at the Dubai hosted 2016 IPC Athletics Asia-Oceania Championships, China’s Ming Xin claimed a first place finish in the men’s T35 100m race with a time of 15.70. Qatar’s Khalifa Abdulla Al-Dosari finished second in a time of 16.26.

The times of both runners are slower than times put up earlier in the year at a few races in Australia.  They are also slower than the 2016 Paralympic B-Qualifying time of 0:15.20, and well off the A-Qualifying time of 0:13.65. So far in the qualifying period, 10 runners have met the A-Qualifying time including Russia’s Dmitrii Safronov and Artem Kalashian, Great Britain’s Jordan Howe, Argentina’s Hernan Barreto, Nicolas Martin Aravena and Diego Martin Gonzalez, China’s Xinhan Fu, Ukraine’s Iurii Tsaruk, Algeria’s Allel Boukhalfa and the United States’ Ayden Jent.

Xin and Al-Dosari both still has one event left on their program, the men’s T35/36/38 200m race. This event is scheduled for later in the week.
