After beating Huracán de Carrasco 2 – 0, Clube Novo Ser de Power Soccer qualified for semifinals of Brazil’s ‎Copa Powerchair Libertadores currently taking place in Montevideo, Uruguay. In other group play, the team beat Maquinas Guerras 4 – 1.

Half the delegation arrived three days before the start of the competition in order to prepare.  It is the first time the team has taken part in this competition, where they are competing against some of the best clubs from Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. The other Brazilian team participating is Rio de Janeiro Power Soccer Clube.

The event is recognized by FIPFA as a continental club championship.  Such competitions are important as FIPFA looks to grow their sport for potential inclusion on the 2024 Summer Paralympics program.  The sport had sought inclusion for 2020 but were not selected, after being cut early in the bidding process.
