El Salvador sends 97 athletes to Campeonato Centroamericano de Atletismo Juvenil A y B

With the Campeonato Centroamericano de Atletismo Juvenil A y B scheduled to get underway tomorrow at Estadio Jorge “Mágico” González, hosts El Salvador is scheduled to have 97 athletes participating.  The team includes 41 women and 56 men.



The team had a two day national team training camp ahead of the event.  A ceremony was held with athletes ceremonially receiving the national flag from Instituto Nacional de los Deportes de El Salvador (INDES) President Jorge Quezada yesterday.  The ceremony also saw El Salvador’s Federación de Atletismo present with funds to help cover their participation and for organization of the event.


All told, 494 athletes from several countries including Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua and Guatemala are scheduled to take part.  Members of the Costa Rican delegation include Daniela Rojas, María Alejandra Murillo, María Aldana Gonzales, Naomy Smith, Julio Avilés, Edson Hernández, Erick Conejo, Álvaro Gutiérrez, Jennifer Arley, Jimena Sanabria, María Campos, Noelia Vargas, Justin Chinchilla, Kevin Castillo, Juan Diego Castro, and Jorge Martínez. The competition wraps up on Sunday.
