With the Inas 2014 World Football Championships scheduled to start on August 11, there are plans underway to farewell the Saudi Arabia national ID football team the following Sunday. The team is expected to depart later that day for Brazil. Festivities are expected to include an exhibition match against Team-Tai at Faisal Bin Fahd Olympic complex in Riyadh.
Sweden, France, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, South Korea, Japan, Germany and Poland all are expected to compete, with Saudi Arabia having drawn Japan and Sweden in Group B.
Saudi Arabia enters the competition as two time defending world champions. They defeated the Netherlands 1 – 0 at the South African hosted finals in 2010 in a repeat of the final from 2006, where Saudi Arabia defeated the Netherlands 9 – 8 on penalty kicks after finishing regulation time tied at 4 – 4.
