With the New Year just a few days old, the SuperAtletas calendars arrived at the offices of the Federación Paralímpica de Costa Rica.
The calendars were created with support of one of Federación Paralímpica de Costa Rica’s primary sponsors, Junta de Protección Social. Featuring a number of Costa Rica’s best disability sportspeople, these calendars play an important part in the organization’s fundraising efforts to continue to support disability sport in the country.
Paralympic sport is still in a bit of a limbo state in the country, as a conflict between Federación Paralímpica de Costa Rica and Comite Paralímpico de Costa Rica over which is the government recognized National Paralympic Committee resulted in the country being formally suspended by the International Paralympic Committee in March 2015. While athletes are able to represent Costa Rica internationally, the suspended state for Costa Rica continues to exist.
