Georgian veterans arrive in Tbilisi after winning 16 medals at Wounded Warriors Regiment

The Georgian delegation that competed at the Wounded Warriors Regiment at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California earlier this month arrived back in Tbilisi yesterday with 16 medals in tow.  The delegation was greeted by Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze at the airport.



Major Malkhaz Shekilashvili came away with a gold medal in archery, while  Junior Sergeant Bakhva Darsalia won silver. The country also picked up medals in shooting, with  Corporal Jimsher Chkhenkeli claiming gold and Junior Sergeant Davit Makhareishvili claiming silver.  The sitting volleyball team also won a gold medal.  All told, they claimed fourteen golds and two silvers.


Sports on the program included archery, cycling, shooting, swimming, track and field, sitting volleyball and wheelchair basketball.  Georgians competed against veterans from the United States, Australia, France, Columbia, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
