Earlier this morning, the German para-Nordic ski team departed Germany for Finland, where a World Cup event is scheduled to take place later this morning. Prior to the start of the event, the team will have a week of intensive training.
The team enters training on a high note. Yesterday, Anna Schaffelhuber was named the Disabled Sportswoman of the Year at a ceremony at the German Sports and Olympic Museum in Cologne. She was nominated alongside Andrea Eskau and Anja Wicker. The men’s award was won by Markus Rehm.
This week, the team also gained a new sponsor, Löffler. The sponsor is providing the team with undergarments to wear during competition and training. The apparel will makes its debut at the Finland World Cup.
The German team enter the 2014 – 2015 on good footing, after a respectable showing at the 2014 Winter Paralympics. The Para-Nordic team won several medals including Andrea Eskau‘s pair of gold in the women’s 6km, sitting biathlon and the women’s 5km, sitting cross-country skiing, Anja Wicker’s gold in the women’s 10km, sitting biathlon and silver in the 12.5km, sitting biathlon,
