As part of plans to improve disability sports in Ghana the Paralympic committee has set up a seven member technical committee to oversee the technical operations of the G.P.C.
The committee will be led by Sesi Dzakpasu, with Benedict Ntrere coach of the Ghana Goal Ball team as the secretary.
Other members of the committee were, Amuzulo K. Adbdul Salim, Emmanuel Sowah, Peter Adjei, Andoh K Koomson and Ibrahim Alhassan Jihad.
The committee, according to Bishop Cornelius Adjah Coffie, President of the GPC, was to advise on technical issues such as classifiers, selection of athletes for international competitions, talent identification and grooming of young disable athletes.
He said the GPC was looking forward to increasing the number of athletes at the next Paralympic Games in Brazil and the formation of the committee was one of the steps aimed at meeting the GPC target.
According to Bishop Coffie, Ghana had over the years participated in Paralympic Games on wild cards, adding that there was the need to go beyond that and secure proper qualification to the competition.
