Great Britain men’s sitting volleyball team drop first set at 2015 Riga Cup

Earlier this morning, Great Britain men’s sitting volleyball team dropped their first set at the 2015 Riga Cup in Latvia when they went down in straight sets to Vector Moscow. The team’s loss had individual set scores of 25 – 22, 25 – 19 and 25 – 23.  The team has one more game remaining at the competition.  It is against Latvia 1.

In yesterday’s play, Great Britain went 3 for 3, starting off the day beating Lithuania 3 – 0 with set scores of 25 – 13, 25 – 16 and 25 – 22.  In their second game of the day, they beat Estonia and again did it in straight sets.  They won 25 – 10, 25 – 16 and 25 – 18.  In their final game of the day, Great Britain played Latvia 2, whom they beat 25 – 18, 25 – 14 and 25 – 20.

Great Britain’s team in Latvia includes captain Rob Richardson, Danny Jarvis, Corie Mapp, John Munro, Johnny Parker, Justin Phillips, Kevin Tann, Charlie Walker and John Worrall. They are being coached by Branislav Kovac, with Karen Hung serving as the assistant coach and Gordon Day serving as the team manager.   Jarvis and Parker are both getting their first international caps for Great Britain at this tournament.  It is also the first major competition with Kovac at the helm.
