Great Britain women’s sitting volleyball team ready to depart for chilly Finland for 2016 Pajulahti Games

The Great Britain women’s sitting volleyball team is ready for their Thursday departure for chilly Finland for 2016 Pajulahti Games.  Temperatures on the day they arrive are expected to be between -18 C / -0.4 F and – 14 C / 6.8 F.


The team has been in training since early this month with head coach Ian Legrand. Training as focused on a number of areas including tactics, condition and game play. The women are currently ranked ninth in the world. Martine Wiltshire, Victoria Widdup, Maurillia Simpson, Stacey Byrne, Erica Vey, Carolyne Duffley, Amanda Pollard, Sarah Partridge, Kathleen Hawkins and Dannielle Hampson-Carroll are all scheduled to be part of the squad competing in Finland.

The Pajulahti Games officially get underway on Friday. Ukraine, Finland, Russia and the Netherlands have all sent teams. Some are participating with their eye on readying themselves for the 2016 World ParaVolley Intercontinental Championship, and claiming the final qualifying spot for the 2016 Rio Games.
