This past weekend, Hammarby Goalball re-elected their President and Executive Board, with no turn over in membership.  The lack of change in leadership caps a successful month for the club, who had members that were part of Swedish women’s national team that won an international tournament in Venice.

The club was founded in 1999, with the foundation of an elite men’s team.  Since then, they have added a women’s team, gone on to win at the highest level in Sweden, and competed in international club competitions where they have enjoyed success.  Players on the team have also been asked to join the national team, where they have played  and won medals on the world championship and Paralympic level.  They are also in the process of forming a youth squad.

The organization is a member of Stockholms Handikapp-IF, which is itself a member of Svenska Handikappidrottsförbundet.  The new youth team practices on Tuesdays, and the men and women’s elite teams practice Tuesdays and Thursdays in Stockholm.
