Earlier today, the IBSA announced that a date and location have been set for the IBSA African Blind Football Championships: October 15 to 25 in Douala, Cameroon.

The competition is scheduled to be a qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Paralympics.  It would be the first time an African team competed in 5-a-side football on the Paralympic level. This is the second time the competition will be held.  The first edition occurred last year in France, and featured two teams: Senegal and Cameroon.  Morocco came away winners with a win and a draw.

The win at the African championships qualified Morocco for the IBSA Blind Football World Championships, where the team finished in twelfth place after losing a placement game to Turkey. They did not lose every game in the competition: in group play, they had a 0 – 0 draw against Japan, and drew 0 – 0 with France.
