IBSA publishes Goalball African Regional Championships dates and location

Yesterday, the IBSA announced the dates and location for the  IBSA Goalball African Regional Championships, one of the 2016 Summer Paralympics qualifying tournaments.  The championship is to take place in Algiers from November 20 to November 27 at the Chéraga Sports Hall and  Staouel Sports Hall.



The competition is being hosted by the Algerian National Paralympic Committee (ANPC), who are also providing free accommodation and local transport to all participating women’s national teams.  At the moment, there are no women’s teams from Africa among the thirty-six globally ranked national teams.


The announced schedule has teams and officials arriving on November 20, with training, classification and technical meetings taking place on November 21.  On November 22, classification will continue.  This will be followed by an opening ceremony and then matches will get underway.  Matches will continue until November 26.  On that day, semifinal matches, bronze and gold medal matches will also take place.  Teams are then scheduled to depart on November 27.
