Tomorrow Iran’s national shooting team is scheduled to depart Tehran for Suhl, Germany and the 2014 IPC Shooting World Championships.  The event is formally scheduled to start on Friday, with the opening ceremony that night.  The competition gets underway on Saturday. Once the shooters arrive, they will have little time to prepare. Classification, equipment control and training are scheduled on the seventeenth and eighteenth.

The team includes Sareh Javanmardidodmani, Iran’s 2012 Paralympic bronze medalist, and Alieh Mahmoudi who also represented Iran in London. Javanmardidodmani was the only woman to medal for Iran at the games. At least two other Iranian shooters will also be competing. The team will be coached in Germany by Hossein Amiri. They will be competing in P1, P2, P4 and P5 events.

The competition is a Paralympic qualifying one, with between 2 and 6 spots per class directly qualifying winners for the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games. In Javanmardidodmani’s P2 group, spots are available for the top three finishers.
