Iran’s Sareh Javanmardidodmani wins at IPC Shooting World Championships

Earlier today, Iran’s Sareh Javanmardidodmani won a gold medal in the women’s P2 10m Air Pistol event with a score of 195.6.  She had to outperform thirty-two other women in the order to claim victory, and came out of the preliminaries in first place.  She carried that performance over into the finals, defeating Hungary’s Krisztina David who scored a 192.0. Javanmardidodmani  managed to put away victory in the in the finals before the final shot was fired.


Javanmardidodmani was Iran’s 2012 Paralympic bronze medalist, and the only woman to medal for Iran at the games.

The competition is a Paralympic qualifying one, with between 2 and 6 spots per class directly qualifying winners for the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games. In Javanmardidodmani’s P2 group, spots are available for the top three finishers.
