Joachim Gerard loses in singles semifinals of ITF 1 Series Nottingham Indoors

Yesterday in single’s play at the ITF 1 Series Nottingham Indoors in wheelchair tennis, Belgium’s Joachim Gerard lost in three sets to tournament defending champion Gordon Reid of Scotland.  The scores were 7 – 5 in favor of Gerard, 6 – 1 win for Reid  and 6 – 4 in the deciding set.



The news is not all bad for Gerard.  He qualified for the men’s double finals.  He and France’s Nicolas Peifer beat England’s Alfie Hewett and Marc McCarroll in straight sets.  Gerard will have his chance to avenge his semifinal loss as he meets Reid.


Gerard entered this tournament ranked ninth in the world. Reid was ranked third.
