Jonas Van de Steene wins Competitiewedstrijd Lochristi handcycling event

In Lochristi, Belgium on Saturday, the MH4 classified Jonas Van de Steene  won the Competitiewedstrijd Lochristi handcycling event.  MH5 classified Tim de Vries finished second, and MH3 classified Jean-Francois Deberg finished third.

The race lasted one hour, plus time to finish the last lap on a 1.3 kilometer long course with four gentle curves. 21 total handcyclists took part in and finished the race.

 

MH4 Stefaan Vanhaverbeke led the race initially with a very fast first lap, before Deberg  took the lead in the second lap.  After that, de Fries took and maintained the lead along with Van de Steene.  They opened up a considerable gap between themselves and Deberg.  The race ended in a sprint for the win.

Several cyclists affiliated with Ligue Handisport Francophone participated, with Luc François finished first in the MH2 classification.  In MH3, Deberg finished first and Louis Toussaint finished fourth.
