Kazakhstan claims ten medals, four golds at 2014 IWAS World Junior Games

To date, the Kazakhstan delegation at the 2014 IWAS World Junior Games in Mandeville have claimed ten total medals, four gold all of which have come in swimming.  Competition ends on Friday.

League Vladislav from the Karaganda Oblast leads the delegation with a pair of gold medals in swimming, one in the 400m freestyle and another in the 50 meter backstroke.  Lee Dmitry from the Pavlodar Oblast won a gold in the 400m freestyle, while Karaganda teammate Sergei Kinah won a gold in the 50m butterly and a silver in the 400m freestyle.  Other medals in swimming include Karaganda’s Ogneva Anastasia who won a bronze in the 50m backstroke and Burdin Leonello won a 50m butterfly.

 

Two medals have come in athletics. Torakulov Azizbeyov won a bronze in the 1,500m. Bekbai Bakhit  from the Almaty Oblast won a bronze in the javelin. Khabibulin Rufa finished fourth in the javelin, just out of medal range.

 

The team also has people competing in table tennis which ends today and powerlifting which starts tomorrow.  The country has 23 total athletes competing.
