Unlike T35, the ambulant cerebral palsy T36 class for women has a lot fewer changes that allow for tracking of historical progression in the class.  And unlike some of the other classes lower in the T30s, most of the records here are held by Chinese sportswomen and there are some records that are quite a bit older.

The oldest record is held by Canada’s Susan Suchan in the women’s 1,500 meters.  She set the world record time of 6:26.30 back in 1995 in Saint John.  The next oldest record was set by Ukraine’s Hanna Prokhnytska in 2002 in the women’s 800 meters, where she ran a time of 3:14.00 at home in Mykolaiv.

The rest of the track world records are set by China’s Fang Wang, who set world records in the 200 meters and 400 meters at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, and set a world record in the 100 meters at the 2008 Summer Paralympics.

The throwing events have much more recent world records, with China’s Qing Wang having held three of them including current world records in the discus throw and the javelin.  Her 2011 world record in the shot put with a distance of 9.66 meters was bettered this year by Germany’s Birgit Kober who threw for a distance of 11.52 meters.  The remaining world record was also set by a German, Claudia Nicoleitzik, in March of this year in Dubai when she jumped 4.11 meters.
