The first day of competition finished last night at the NWBA Midwest Junior Regional Tournament. The competition is being held at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. All teams competing are ranked nationally in the NWBA Junior ’10 rankings.

The Atlanta Jr. Wheelchair Hawks finished the day with a 2 – 1 record.  They won their first game against the Utah Rush, lost their second to the Milwaukee Heat by five points, then beat the RHI Indy Racers.

The Utah Rush had a 0 – 3 record on the day, going down to the Milwaukee Heat, Atlanta Jr. Wheelchair Hawk and Nebraska Red Dawgs, Team member Advait came into the tournament with a new wheelchair to compete, a gift from team leaders including a player named Marshall. He had been waiting for a wheelchair basketball chair for three years. Advait has been playing the sport for four years and has captained his team.

Games resume today at 8:00 AM local time, with games including Turnstone Flyers taking on the Atlanta Jr. Wheelchair Hawk, and the Utah Rush playing Courage Center Jr. Timberwolves.
