National Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan participates in bike race celebrating President Nursultan Nazarbayev victory

On Saturday, the National Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan and Paralympians from the country participated in bike race celebrating the re-election of the country’s president Nursultan Nazarbayev  in late April. Nazarbayev  won the election with 97.7%  of the vote.



The event took place in Astana, the country’s capital with athletes and cyclists and sports fans from 13 different regions of Kazakhstan participating. Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Arystanbek Muhamediuly spoke before the start of the event, encouraging people to become more active in sports and to support elite sport in the country.


Kazakhstan did not send any cyclists to the 2012 Summer Paralympics.  The country also currently does not have any ranked UCI Para-Cyclists.  On the Olympic side, the country had 2 cyclists competing in London.
