With the Canadian National Goalball Championships scheduled to get underway tomorrow, the Nova Scotia men’s goalball team are looking to defend their title in Quebec City.

The team includes Simon Richard, Oliver Pye, Peter Parsons, Mason Smith and Yvon Clement, and they are coached by Linda MacRae Triff and Alcide Richard. The championships offer another opportunity for Smith to shine, and impress national team selectors.  He has been part of the Canadian boys national goalball team.

The team goes into the event having had success in February at  32nd Annual Midwest Regional Goalball Tournament in Warren, Michigan where they came away with a gold medal.

The Nova Scotia women’s goalball team will also be participating in the national championships.  Sharing coaches with the men’s team, their roster includes  Stephanie Berry, Jennie Bovard, Tarah Sawler and Cassie Orgeles. Sawler has been a member of the Canada girls national team.  Like the men, they also go into the tournament having won gold at February’s Midwest Regional Goalball Tournament.
