Tomorrow, Parabadminton Perú is scheduled to have another one of their weekly training sessions at the national stadium in Lima.  At last week’s training session, players watched film from a recent competition in Spain in order to get an idea how to improve their own game.

Since the sessions have started, weekly participation has been gradually creeping upwards as more people in Lima discover the sport is a great one for people with disabilities to participate in.

Pedro Pablo de Vinatea, scheduled to compete in swimming at the upcoming Parapan American Games in August in Toronto, has been one of the major drivers of the sports in Peru.  He has helped to get sponsors on board, and get grants to push participation in the sport. de Vinatea was also one of the key players in getting a member of the sport’s international governing body to visit Peru to see what they have been up to.

In late January, the decision was made to add badminton to the 2020 Summer Paralympics program.
