Powerlifter Jose David Coronel crowned Argentine champion for seventh time

With the Argentina National Powerlifting Championships having wrapped up yesterday,  Jose David Coronel comes away with his seventh consecutive national crown.  The win now gives him time to focus on preparations for the upcoming Parapan American Games in August.



Coronel has been active recently.  Last month, he was in Mexico City for the final part of his 2016 Summer Paralympics qualifying campaign.  Competing at the 2015 IPC Powerlifting Open Americas Championships, he came away with a fifth place finish in the men’s Up to 65kg event, with a best lift of 131 kg, 46 kilos less than gold medalist Michael Yule of Great Britain.


The 29-year-old Argentine is currently ranked fourteenth in the world.
