Russia and the Netherlands get opening day victories in sitting volleyball at Pajulahti Games

With sitting volleyball officially underway at  Pajulahti Games the in Nastola, Finland, the women’s national teams from Russia and Netherlands have both gotten wins.



Russia defeated Hungary 3 – 0, going 17 – 25, 13 – 25, and 9 – 25 in their individual sets. The Netherlands defeated Brazil 3 – 2, going 20 – 25, 19 – 25, 25 – 22, 25 – 16, and 15 – 10. Pim Scherpenzeel, the Netherlands national team coach, is happy with his team’s performance against Brazil.


Play resumes this afternoon, with Finland taking on Hungary, Russia playing the Netherlands and Brazil playing Finland.  On Saturday, Hungary plays the Netherlands, Finland plays Russia, Brazil meets Hungary, the Netherlands plays Finland, Russia plays Brazil and the day concludes with the 4 – 5 qualification match.  Sunday starts with the bronze medal match at 9:30 AM local time, and concludes at 11:30 local time with the gold medal match.
