Seattle Jr Sonics sweep Utah Turkey Shootout

This past weekend, the Seattle Jr Sonics swept away the competition at wheelchair basketball’s Utah Turkey Shootout to finish first. The team’s first game was against the Utah Rush, which they won in a close one of 40 – 37.

Coming into the competition, the team had some issues as a result of injury and illness.  These issues proved not to be a concern for their coach, who managed to keep them on track to win.

Utah Turkey Shootout was organized by  Salt Lake County Adaptive Sports and the Utah Rush.  The Seattle Jr Sonics team is a mixed gendered junior wheelchair basketball team for players between the ages of 13 and 18.  They are supported by Seattle Adaptive Sports.  They practice on Tuesdays at the Miller Community Center, and Saturdays at Nova Middle School. Earlier this year, the team won the West Coast Conference Championships.
