Sheffield & Hallamshire County Football Association is scheduled to host a u-18 blind football event at the Westfield Sports Centre on Eckington Road in Sheffield on March 20 from 10am until 12 noon.  It is open to anyone under the age of 18 who has a visual impairment.

The event is being supported by Action for Blind, British Blind Sport, and Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind.  If  the event is successful, Sheffield & Hallamshire County Football Association plan to try to regularly hold youth blind football events.

These sort of local events supporting football for people with disabilities build on a tradition that really got underway in the leadup to the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and have continued since despite Great Britain not qualifying  5-a-side team for the 2016 Summer Paralympics.  The Great Britain national 7-a-side team for athletes with cerebral palsy have qualified for Rio.
