Spain beats Paraguay on penalty kicks to qualify for IBSA Blind Football World Championships semifinals

Earlier today in Tokyo, Japan, Spain beat Paraguay on penalty kicks to qualify for IBSA Blind Football World Championships semifinals.  Regular time ended with a scoreless draw.

Spain faced a tough battle through group play to get the opportunity to play against Paraguay.  In their first game, they lost 1 – 0 to Argentina.  In their second game, they drew 1 – 1 against Germany.  In their last game, they drew 0 – 0 against South Korea in a game that went to penalty kicks as both teams tied on points to advance to the quarterfinals.

 

Depending on the outcome of the game in progress, Spain will play either play Argentina or Colombia in the semifinals on Sunday.
