This Saturday, SURFaddict (Associação Portuguesa de Surf Adaptado) is scheduled to hold their second gala at the Lisbon Marriott Hotel.  It gets underway at 4:00 PM local time.

The gala includes an award ceremony, with categories that include Personality of the Year, Wave of the Year, Institution of the Year, Volunteer of Earth of the Year, Volunteer of Sea of the Year,  and the Aloha Award, the Spirt Award and Motivation Award.  These celebrate success in the Portuguese adaptive surfing community in 2015.

SURFaddict was founded by Portuguese Paralympic swimmer Nuno Vitorino  with the intention of promoting the sport to people with disabilities, and showing others that anything is possible.  He is quoted by Diário Digital as saying, “It is important to show that disability is not an excuse for not achieving our goals.”
