Talking the lingo in Rio: Chatting with your new Czech speaking friends about athletics

This article is a series of language learning posts by ParaSport News.  The goal is to provide sport fans some very basic sport and Paralympic vocabulary so you can talk with the world about disability sport at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio.

Czech  is spoken in the Czech Republic and is a minority language in Slovakia.  While the number of language speakers may be small at 10 million native speakers, knowing a few words might really impress your new Czech Paralympic acquaintences.

General disability words:

  • nevidomými – blind
  •  zrakově postižených – Visually impaired
  • Invalidní vozík – Wheelchair

Sport specific words:
