Talking the lingo in Rio: Chatting with your new Hindi speaking friends about wheelchair tennis

This article is a series of language learning posts by ParaSport News.  The goal is to provide sport fans some very basic sport and Paralympic vocabulary so you can talk with the world about disability sport at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio.

Hindi is the Hindustani language using Sanskritised register. It is spoken by 258 million people in India, South Africa, Fiji and Nepal. There has been some debate about making Hindi the national language of India in recent times. With India having their NPC suspended for the third time in 2015, the chances of seeing many Indians in Rio is low.
