Sweden ranks tenth all time in total Paralympic medals. While you may not expect Swedish to come in handy, you may see the flag often enough that having a few words might come in handy. The language has 9.2 million speaks, most of them in Sweden and Finland. The few words you pick up will come in handy with Norwegian and Danish speakers as the languages are mutually intelligible.

Sport specific words:

- Handikappidrott – Disability sport
- Paralympiska spelen – Paralympic Games
- Triceps brachii – Triceps brachii muscle
Country specific words:
- Tyskland – Germany
Taekwondo specific words:
While Taekwondo is not on the Paralympic program until 2020, preparation is always useful because you might run across Swedish speakers who have Taekwondo as a second sport or are potential hopefuls for Tokyo.
