The Ghana Paralympic Committee is planning to present a 25-man squad to this year’s All Africa Games. The GPC has held a series of trials in the Ashanti Region to select power lifters and tricycle athletes for the multi-sport competition to be held in September. The Paralympic team contributed 7 out of the nation’s total 17 medals bagged at the Maputo 2011.
But, President of the Ghana Paralympic Committee, Bishop Adja Cofie is not expecting his squad to win more than six medals in Brazzaville. “We are hoping to scoop not less than six Medals, because we have a technical problem that is the female T64 who are normally our medal hope are not supposed to be at the All Africa games because their race will not be competed. So now the attention will be shifted to the men who will be competing in the 100m, 200m, 800m and 1500m.
