IWBF Europe Development Commission is reporting today that three of the top men’s players in Turkey have transferred from Galatasaray S.K to Besikstas in Türkiye Tekerlekli Sandalye Basketbol Süper Ligi.

The transfer is a result of financial difficulties being faced by Galatasaray as they seek to restructure debt in the organization.  The club is reported by to have a scheduled an Extraordinary General Meeting for this Saturday to address this and another issues related to their financial situation.

Galatasaray have consistently been the top team in the Turkish Wheelchair Basketball Super League, winning every league championship since 2006. Beşiktaş won the league in the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 seasons, and have generally placed second or third in the league during Galatasaray’s reign at the top.  Competing in some inter-European club events in the past few years, Beşiktaş has managed to pull off a couple of first and second place finishes.
