With the first official day of competition having wrapped up in Seoul at the IBSA World Games, Turkey, Spain and Iran came away winners in men’s goalball group play.

World number two Turkey defeated world 61 Mexico in a tightly fought game that should have given the Turkish side a real scare despite the 9 –  5 final score.  5th ranked Spain narrowly held off hosts and current world number 21 South Korea 3 – 2.   World number 3 Lithuania drew 0 – 0 with world 57th Venezuela.  World number 4 Iran crushed Australia, currently ranked 36th in the world, 10 – 0.

The only other event on the calendar was the opening ceremonies, which took place at the Jamsil Gymnasium this evening.
