United Arab Emirates men defeat Kuwait 85 – 65 at Fazza Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

Earlier today, the United Arab Emirates men defeat Kuwait 85 – 65 at 8th FAZZA International Wheelchair Basketball Tournament in Dubai.     The game was the first in placement play for the UAE.  The country lost to Morocco 65 – 34, Japan 67 – 46 beat the Philippines 58 – 64 in group play.


Other games scheduled for the day include Saudi Arabia playing the Philippines for placement, with  Great Britain playing Japan, and Morocco playing Thailand in semi-finals matches.  Japan came out of Pool A play in first place with 3 wins, while Morocco was second with 2 wins and a loss. Pool B saw Thailand finish first with 3 wins, while Great Britain finished second with 2 wins and a loss.

For Great Britain and Japan, the competition is another opportunity to prepare ahead of the Paralympic Games in Rio.  Japan qualified after finishing third at the 2015 IWBF Asia-Oceania Championship, while Great Britain qualified after finishing second at the 2015 IWBF European Championship.
