Last night, Wheelchair & Ambulatory Sports, USA announced the team selected to compete at the 2015 IWAS World Junior Games which are scheduled to get underway in Stadskanaal, Netherlands from July 2 to 8. Sports on the program include amputee football, athletics, swimming and archery.
Those selected include Nicholas Badeaux, Mark Braun, Curran Brown, Phillip Croft, Trey Davis, Brendan Driscoll, Lauren Gates, Katrina Gerhard, Sam Grewe, Garrison Hayes, Aubrey Headon, Miguel Jimenez-Vargara, Eric Johnson, Spencer Kimbro, Stephen Koziel, Jessica Larsen, Michael Magin, Amanda Malawski, Stephanie Marquez, Kevin Messner, Mitchell Miles, Isaiah Rigo, Elisabet Ruiz-Torres, Daniel Velasquez, and Amy Watt. Noah Barbnecht and Cierra Belsan were selected as alternatives.
Many of the athletes selected competed at the 2014 USA National Junior Disability Championships. Archer Ruiz-Torres won the cadet event as a member of the North Jersey Navicators PSC. ST class Belsan won the junior archery event using a compound bow. Belsan is a member of the Arizona Heat. Swimming while representing the Georgia Blazers, S10 classified Davis had seven first place finishes including in the 100 meter backstroke, 100 meter freestyle, 200 meter freestyle, 4 x 50 meter IM, 50 M backstroke, 50 meter fly and 50 meter freestyle.
