USA women win opener at 2015 World Deaf Basketball Championships

The United States women have started their campaign at the 2015 World Deaf Basketball Championships with a 95 – 38 victory against Japan this weekend.


Paige Machnacki was the team’s leading scorer with 16 points. Four other players were also in double-digit points range including Danielle Warren who put in 10, Elena Ciccarelli who put in 10, Lindsay Stergio who put up 15, and Victoria Faieta who put in 12. Another 5 players contributed at least one point.

Machnacki was also Team USA’s dominant rebounder in the game, pulling down 12 rebounds. She was assisted by Ciccarelli who pulled in 10. Faeita was no slouch either with 9 rebounds. Stergio and Sabina Shysh were also major rebound contributors with 8 each.
